14 June, 2009

This will be my first post, because in usual style I forgot that I had set up the blog a few years ago Did not have so much of interest to say, and you may not think it is any more interesting now,  but my life in the past few years has taken a dramatic turn.

Thirst- Cafe Church a Fresh Expression
First of all in November 2007 a group of us decided to pioneer a Cafe Church called Thirst at the local school. We wondered how people who had little or no interest in attending church might feel they would,  if they were invited to a church which came to their community. Rather than expecting people to come visit us, we would go to them. In my conversations I discovered that so many, say they are not interested in God, or the church, yet have never had any kind of honest encounter with him. I think some people are scared of God or their perceptions of him.

Anyway we begun something called 'Thirst', which is officially a Fresh Expression of the Church of England . We meet of Friday mornings (so Sundays are free for family and DIY), at the local school lounge. We have coffee, discuss the meaning of life, talk about God and people find their lives begin to change. It's quite amazing really what happens when you meet with friends and invite God to be involved.

Pioneer Ordinand in Training in the Church of England
Well after this I then became an Pioneer ordinand in training in the Church of England at Ridley hall. Today I am four days short of my first year. It's been eventful but exciting and I am still amazed to think I am here. I keep thinking one day some one will find out I am imposter, even though the Church doesn't see me as such! Ridley is a great place to be. We are in the centre of Cambridge and are fortunate enough enough to have some of the best people around teaching us.

It's all in the family
I forgot to mention that Paul, my husband is a curate also, he finished Ridley two years ago. So we are keeping on the family tradition. My father was also a minister but in a pentecostal church and I am proud to follow that same calling to a vocation to serve the community and show the love and grace of God.
